In September 2006, a group of 19 Irish volunteers travelled to Watamu, Kenya to renovate the Infant School at the SDA Primary School.
The Patiseng Primary School in Lesotho is situated in the north of the country in the Butha-Buthe district in the Kota Valley.
Following the tremendous success of the 2013 to 2015 projects in Galana the Board of Friends From Ireland decided to look at the possibility of building a Secondary School.
The Watamu Marine Association (W.M.A.) was formed in September 2007 after a workshop brought marine stakeholders together to address conflicts and develop working partnerships.
In January 2016 we were honoured to have the presence of the Irish Ambassador to Kenya, Dr Vincent O’Neill, accompanied by his wife Bróna, along with the Cabinet Secretary for the Environment Prof. Judi Wakhungu, at a launch in Galana, Kenya.
We are currently in the process of deciding on our projects for 2o2o.
Friends From Ireland has worked in the Galana community in Kenya since 2012 and throughout that time has been supported by the management and scouts of the Galana Wildlife Conservancy (GWC).
While extending and renovating the Clinic at Galana in 2012, Friends From Ireland visited the local primary school.
